Support

Challenge WalkersOur first priority on the Dean Team Automotive Challenge Walk MS is the safety of each participant. We will do everything in our power to ensure your safety, however, we need your help. Please familiarize yourself with the event policies, which have been formulated in the interest of each and every one of our participants. We take them very seriously and ask that you do too!

During the weekend, please be aware of your fellow walkers; if you notice someone having difficulty, come to his/her aid, and notify an event official immediately. Be respectful of others and, above all else, obey traffic laws, law enforcement officers and route guidelines. The route has been designed to minimize walking in high-traffic areas, however, at times you will be near vehicular traffic. Remember that this is not a closed route; the streets and trails will remain open as we travel along them. Make smart choices -- you may be followed by the people behind you. Behaving in an unsafe manner is cause for immediate removal from the route and/or event.

Our Pledge to You

You will be fully supported on every step of your journey. Your commitment is to walk and raise funds; our commitment is to worry about everything else. Our goal is to make your journey as fun and as hassle-free as possible, so that during and after each day of physical and emotional extremes, you can relax with each other and enjoy the feelings of accomplishment and fulfillment that you have worked so hard to achieve.

Medical Assistance - There are professional medical personnel monitoring the route, lunch stops and the overnight site. From blister care to wrapping ankles, these trained nurses, doctors, and EMT professionals are there to help you. (All Walkers are required to have medical insurance to participate.)

Support and Gear (SAG) Vehicles- The route is continually monitored by volunteers in vehicles who can provide any extra help you may need along the route or transportation assistance.

Massages - We have free massages available at rest stops to loosen sore and tight muscles. Massages are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Volunteers & Staff - There are hundreds of volunteers and dedicated staff members to support you throughout the weekend. They are responsible for making the event run smoothly and provide endless support and cheering to keep you motivated.

FOR YOUR SAFETY

Weather

June weather in the St. Louis area can vary, so please keep an eye on the weather the week of the event so you know how to pack. If it looks like rain, please plan accordingly. Challenge Walk MS takes place rain or shine. We are committed to your comfort and will be prepared to react to whatever weather situation arises. Nothing can dampen our spirits in moving toward a world free of MS.

MP3 Players/Radios/Cell Phones with Earphones

Challenge Walk MS participants are not allowed to wear earphones, use radios, or talk on cell phones while on the route. You will need to be listening to all that is going on around you in order to remain safe (you may use your cell phone in the event of an emergency or while at a rest stop).

Laws

You are expected to follow all laws, including, but not limited to, traffic laws. Walkers should never walk under the influence of alcohol or drugs, nor be in the possession of such. Illegal drugs are not permitted on Challenge Walk MS, including overnights, rest stops, or any other facility.
